I read a Comic strip named <Innocent sinners> When I was a little kid, the name of this book represented the whole meaning of this book, I still have this feeling till now. Today, I recalled this Comic strip when mathematic Olympiad like the crossing road mouse. I think if mathematical Olympiad can speak, it will say I'm an "Innocent sinner” too.
For example, students will not rush to squeeze the single-plank bridge of Olympiad competition if the score of the test is ignored; For example, school, especially those famous schools, will not idly do nothing but to embarrass the students if they can use one piece of paper to distinguish all of their students. For example, the teachers of Math Olympiads will lose their jobs if there is nobody to learn. For example the educational department ,there is no use for them to ban math Olympiads competition if students want to learn it teacher want to teach school select students on merit. It should be said ,this is the panorama eco-map of the present math Olympiads, quote the name of one song of Wang Zheng:We all are innocent sinners.
However, innocent is not equal to injustice without head, debt-free lord, the original reason that it was introduced to china is it could be used to distinguish genius and non-genius, what are the things that can identify swift horse? Of course Boehler, and so Math Olympiad is Boehler. But the tradition of hoping their children to be the best in china urged the parents to do so. If the child of others can learn Math Olympiads well, why can't mine? So there is no need to worry about nobody cheering on Math Olympiads only if the tradition and mentality exist. It could be said the reason that famous school matriculates students by considering the score of their Math Olympiads is to cater to the mentality of parents, after all headmaster and teachers are housemasters too.
This reminds me of a piece of news, saying that if the academic students want to access to Beijing the CET-4 certificate is necessary. Of course it's absurd. Is there relation between account and CET-4?The answer is yes. All of us have the university diploma, but not all of us have certificate of CET-4.Only because of this a large number of students can be blocked to the outside of Capital. The elite school is the same. Every pupil know that1+1=2,1/2+1/3=1/6,but not all of pupil know the answer to the question" There are 5 persons in front of you, and also 5 behind you ,well how many pupil all together?" So, this offered the markets and platforms to Math Olympiad. Use jargon expressions are the "scarcity effect." Even if there is no Math Olympiad but English Olympiad and Chinese Olympiad and so on will appear to instead of it because of the difficulty in entering elite school. The purpose is to find ways to daunt you, and never give up until reach the goal.
The cause of such problem is obviously due to the rarity of the elite school and the lacking of high quality of educational resource, and this is already common place. Put the problem upside down, less elite schools, that is, more non-elite schools, regular educational resources are too common. Most of the children are eating noodles while yours is drinking soup. Please note that basic education is general education not selective education, it concerns the justice between the countryside children and city children, poor children and rich children, not send all the children to elite school develop them into a genius. Not only can't we do this but also UN and USA. That's the only reason that there is so many "child genius" but few even no "adult genius" in china. It heard terrible, but indisputable fact.
Finally, I express the point of my view, during the period of basical education; don't engage in what the focus and non focus, after all they are artificial, not natural. And only introduced in all schools and teachers across the board, educational resources, equalization, and the white-hot competition among the students will disappear and exhaustive Mathematical Olympiad naturally there is no market.
