Mount Huangshan
Mount Huangshan, located at the beautiful mountainous area of southern Anhui, is celebrated for its fantastic beauty of “three wonderful and four unique scenic features” in the world. In 1982, Mount Huangshan was announced by the State Council to be included the first national scenic areas. In 1986, it was listed as one of the ten major scenic spots in China through selection. In 1990, Mount Huangshan was listed in World Heritage by UNESCO. Then, Mount Huangshan was selected as national “Hygienic Mountain”, “Safe Mountain” successively. In 1998, Mount Huangshan was listed as top one of the first ten national civilized scenic spotsdecided by national departments, such as Ministry of Construction and National Tourism Administration, etc.
Mount Huangshan is a mountainous scenic area characterized by its natural scenery such as the four wonders, namely, fantastic pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds and hot springs. Tourists both from home and abroad acclaim these four wonders as the acme of perfection. The 72 named peaks of Mount Huangshan practically sculptured made by the nature and its layout is in graceful disorder either magnificent or steep. Lotus, Brightness Apex and Celestial Capital are the three major peaks, all arising above 1,800 meters above sea level. The three major peaks as a focus spread out around, giving rise to lofty peaks and deep ravines, theMount Huangshan appears as a typical hoodoos physiognomy.
